Do you know what AIDA stands for?
Many people might think about music when they hear of AIDA (e.g. Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida). What about AIDA in the marketing field? Have you heard about it? In marketing and advertising, AIDA refers to four different phases which lead customers to purchase services or products.
- Attention (Awareness): Capture your customers' attention!
- Interest: Increase your customers' interests by focusing on benefits
- Desire: Stimulates customers to purchase your products/services
- Action: Make it easy for your customers to purchase your products/services
Effective AIDA on your website
Let's start with the first phase of AIDA, Attention. What should you do in order to spark the interest of customers? One of the best examples is a great headline. When you have an appealing headline, your customers attention will be grabbed and they will read on.
Next step! Interest. You need to make your customers want to know more about your products and services. For this step, you may want to have a well-organized website to introduce your products and services so that customers know what they are clicking on.
Desire. Now your visitors may roam around in your website with understanding of what your website is about. What do you need to increase their desire? It is easy. You need to provide text or visual content that stimulates your customers. For instance, you may need to provide a film or picture about your products. I recommend that you have something visualized with well-explained information so that your customers recognize your products as soon as they see.
If your plan on the third step, desire, your customers may be willing to purchase your products/services. This phase is the last phase of the AIDA system, Action. You need to make it easy for your customers to purchase your products. Good examples for this are "Buy It Now" or "Add to My Cart" buttons, which are usually located upper right corner or right under product pictures in any commercial websites.
Now take a look at your website/blog and think about how yours looks like.
